What are we looking for?
As a modern in-house IT service provider, we manage a mix of on-premises and cloud solutions to offer an efficient, reliable, secure and adapted environment to all CMB.TECH Group users. Our daily working environment is based on MS365, and we use a range of integrated ERP systems, supported by a modern data warehouse using Azure and the MS stack.
As an IT Business Analyst, you will analyse and design business processes, translating them into supporting applications. You will be responsible for designing an application landscape, selecting new or existing applications, and successfully implementing ERP packages. You should have a strong understanding of existing systems and the business processes they support, allowing you to troubleshoot user queries and coordinate with technical specialists for solutions.
You will be part of a team of about 35 people spread over mainly our office in Antwerp and our offices in the UK. Your location is Antwerp.
Key Responsibilities
First line Support: For any questions regarding the shipping operations system landscape, the Business Analyst (BA) will serve as the first/second line of support. The BA should handle general inquiries and straightforward ’how-to’ questions. For more complex issues, a request should be submitted to the software/implementation partner. It is the responsibility of the BA to follow up on this request, ensure it is tested, and implement it according to the business needs, ensuring a smooth transition to the live environment.
Business process and application requirements: Analyse and design business processes or document existing ones, ensuring they are supported by ERP (related to maritime operations) or in-house applications. Define any additional features required.
Solution design for software development: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs, create functional specifications, and ensure the development team delivers solutions that meet these needs.
User training:Provide user training and create comprehensive documentation, including user manuals and system help files, focusing on the Operations Team.
Testing: Oversee test cycles for new applications, including defining test scenarios, participating in system integration tests, and ensuring test outcomes meet quality standards.
Project management: Plan and execute projects from the IT application roadmap, managing the budget, timeline, and scope, and reporting progress to stakeholders.
These responsibilities require a strong understanding of both business needs with a focus on Maritime Operations and IT capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our IT systems and applications effectively support our business operations and strategic objectives.
What do you bring?
- Formal education: you hold a Master’s degree or equivalent through experience;
- You have 3 to 5 years of experience as a business analyst or project manager;
- Languages: fluent in both Dutch and English (must-have);
- You have a good knowledge of BPMN, analysis in the form of use cases depending on project to project, experience with Agile and Scrum is advantageous;
- Experience in writing end-to-end tests and clearly documenting processes;
- Ability to make informed decisions with incomplete data and to set priorities effectively;
- Solution-oriented with a positive, can-do mentality;
- Excellent team player, able to work independently and take initiative;
- Knowledge of accounting and procurement; experience in a production environment is an asset.
