We are now looking for a Machine Shop Managerto ensures the supply of spinners to all European insulation producing plants by maintaining adequate finished goods inventory and scheduling production through monthly projections and usage rates.

As a Machine Shop Manager, you will manage all necessary production shifts that includes maintenance, logistics and hourly technicians in a facility capable of 24/7 operation. You’ll need also to interact regularly with the alloys coordinator to ensure a constant flow of new spinners into the production facilities.

The position is based at our plant in Visé (Belgium), with approximately 5% travel.

What you’ll be doing:

• Manage spinner supply and production for all European fiberglass insulation plants
• Manage the distributionof the precious metals, refractory components and thermo-couples for EMEA.
• Maintain the spinner finished goods specifications and quality standards expected of internal customers.
• Track and report all spinner shop operational efficiencies
• Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
• Coordinate and assist in performing scheduled maintenance of all conversion equipment including mills, drilling machines, balancers and slinging devices.
• Develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives for safety, product quality, profitability, efficiencies, operator knowledge, etc.
• Lead, manage, and coach Spinner Shop Technicians, Reliability technician and Logistics Manager.
• Maintain a safe operation, including proper equipment design, proper maintenance of equipment and safe work habits for Shop Technicians and interfacing department members
• Serve as the liaisonwith Operations, Research and Development, and Corporate Process Development and Purchasing
• Collaborate with peers of the US workshop to share ideas and experience
• Interact with appropriate Purchasing and P&PD personnel to track the use of alloy, castings and finished goods, including internal and external audits and purchasing records
• Ensure ongoing development and upgrading of skills within the department through the scheduling of equipment training sessions, specialized classes, seminars, etc.

You also have:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, metallurgy, materials science or related field
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Minimum five (5) years’ people management experience
• Fluency in French and good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Computer skills in MS Office environment, SAP and proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Project management skills to complete all tasks in a timely manner under limited supervision, maintaining an accurate production schedule

If you have experience in the following areas – this is an added advantage:

• Managing equipment maintenance, OEM contacts and contracts
• Knowledge of alloy processing, casting, machining, & development
• Knowledge of measuring equipment
• Knowledge of quality systems
