SABCA Brussels is the Headquarter of the company. Besides its corporate, commercial and financial functions, the plant in Brussels is the home to the Structural and Mechatronics Engineering offices, responsible for most of the new programs at SABCA. Its workshops are equipped with modern machines that produce complex metallic assemblies for aircraft and space launchers and advanced Thrust Vectoring Systems for space launchers. SABCA Brussels is also the home to our Business Unit "Unmanned Autonomous Systems". The plant has 680 employees

Mission

You are a key player for the development and definition of the future strategy with regards to our surface treatment and painting processes of aluminium parts for all our customers. You take the role as project lead to implement the future surface treatment and painting strategy. You evaluate and improve current and future surface treatment processes by designing and conducting research programs, with knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials. You translate the specific customer requirements into surface treatment processes and painting processes, optimise safety, cost, delivery, quality aspects and document all surface treatment processes and painting processes.

You work closely together with our product quality department, maintenance and other technical support departments.

Responsibilities

• Determine best process to give aircraft subassemblies the optimum surface treatment based on client specifications and industry best practices
• As a subject matter expert, participate to problem-solving, continuous improvement and training activities with the surface treatment operations teams
• Follow up on the shop floor and initiate process improvement based on your observations
• Document process details to sustain quality
• Research root causes and advise operations on tests to confirm them via structured root cause analysis methods (5-Why, 9S, 8D,…)
• Inform about scientific and technical developments, advise on potential impact for the operations
• Determine and define project scope and objectives based on the surface treatment strategy
• Project Management predict resources needed to reach objectives, prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements, track project costs, develop and manage detailed project schedule and work plan, provide project updates to various stakeholders
• Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers
• Use industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
• Monitor progress, make adjustments, measure project performance, identify areas for improvement

Profile

• Master in materials engineering or chemistry or equivalent through experience
• 10 to 15 years of relevant experience with surface treatment, incl. implementation of optimization projects (continuous improvement, 6 sigma)
• Strong industrial view and experience

Skills

• Background in aerospace is an advantage
• Knowledge of 3D software and project management
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Team player, attention to details, data driven
