Function:

As a Mechatronics System Engineer, you will facilitate automation in the store and logistics of today and tomorrow. You actively search for robotisation and digitisation opportunities within Colruyt Group. In a variety of innovative projects, you will integrate state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical hardware and software into a functioning pilot implementation. A challenging job with impact!

You will work at Smart Technics (smarttechnics.colruytgroup.com), a multi-disciplinary team of innovation and technology experts, driving Colruyt Group forward at a technological level with digital and innovative projects. You are the internal expert and contact person in the field of mechatronics.

Your tasks in a nutshell:

• You will take the lead in designing a new automation solution and you will work out the specifications for the expected solution in consultation with our internal customers from logistics and the stores.
• You will design the mechatronic system architectureand regularly discuss it with our internal co-workers and external technology providers.
• Together with a team of mechanical and electr(on)ical designers and software developers, you will integratedifferent hardware and software componentsinto a working system solution, that you will validate extensively.
• You will participate in daily activities with regards to the design, development, integration and testing of innovative mechatronical solutions;
• You fit into our team that likes to make use of state-of-the-art hardware and software tools.
• You keep a finger on the pulse with regard to the latest innovations in mechatronics.

You will work in our head office in Halle or Haasrode and two days a week you can work from home or in one of our regional offices (Deinze, Haasrode, Mechelen or Merelbeke, amongst others).

Profile:

• Education and experience - You have a master’s degree. You have a solid background in mechatronics(mechanics, electronics and/or software); You have a broad technical interest and affinity with different aspects of automation. You have insight into the sensors, actuators and embedded hardware that is used a lot in retail or logistics automation. Experience with the development of (prototypes of) mechatronical products in multidisciplinary teams is a big plus;
• Analytical capacity - You can process all sorts of information and tasks in a short time and without losing track of the bigger picture.
• Problem-solving thinking – You have a hands-on attitude and help with the integration of mechatronical prototypes. You think in terms of solutions and you always remain calm when an issue rears it head. Problems? You see them as challenges to do better!
• Flexible - You will be given a full-time contract with flexible office hours, but working a little longer every now and then is not a problem for you.
• Goal-oriented - You are not easily daunted by things and you aim straight at your goal. There is no challenge you cannot handle. You have a can-do attitude
• Languages - You communicate fluently in Dutch and you have a good knowledge of English, so that you will be able to work together well with your colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
