About The Role
We are seeking a detail orientated individual to join our Billing Team on a permanent full-time basis to ensure primary functions such as raising invoices, receipting of monies and stakeholder account management, are maintained at an optimal level. The Patient Accounts Officer is responsible for:
- Raising all health fund accounts for discharged patients
- Responsible for the receipting of all health fund monies
- Performing collections follow up for all patient accounts raised and sent
- Verifies eligibility of private health insurance information in relation to patient’s hospital admissions within appropriate time frames
- Liaising with health funds and 3rd parties regarding patient eligibility concerns and unpaid, rejected and short paid claims
- Accurately processing patient paperwork and complete any necessary documentation required including data entry
- Reviewing of claims on hold and follow up with respective areas such as Patient Services/theatre/doctors rooms for missing data or documentation
- Escalating claims for clinical review
- Identifying and addressing private health fund and patient refunds
- Preparing paperwork for adjustments and refunds pertaining to a patient’s stay, including BUPA private room guarantee payments
- Sending out refund cheques and accompanying letters to health funds and patients
You will have demonstrated experience in pre-admission health funding assessment and post-discharge patient billing. We are also looking for:
- Experience within the health industry to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of private health insurance
- Billing and debtor experience of health fund, WorkCover, third party, DVA hospital claims
- Demonstrated experience in PC applications including but not limited to electronic patient systems, patient online portals, Microsoft office
- Demonstrated exemplary customer service to all stakeholders (patients, visitors, health professionals and other staff) as an integral part of the Patient Billings role
- Experience with patient quoting of hospital admissions costs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication and patient skills
- High degree of initiative and self-motivation in working autonomously and as part of a team
- Demonstrated time management, prioritisation skills and high attention to detail
- Desirable knowledge of prosthesis invoicing, high cost drugs and ex-gratia processes.
