Successful applicants will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including regulation of the internet, the role of social media in economic growth and competitiveness, freedom of expression, and new opportunities for democratic engagement.This role will ideally be based in London although other listed locations will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to Facebook’s external narrative by developing proof points and stances in key policy areas and develop external engagement strategies in partnership with Comms, Marketing and local Policy teams
- Develop and implement overall project structures in EMEA, including SteerCos with leadership, regular cadence of cross-functional meetings, written updates, touch points with global teams and accountability frameworks
- Facilitate highly analytical impact assessments of regulatory proposals in partnership with functional policy teams, Product and Legal
- Function as lynchpin coordinator of cross-functional efforts (in particular Policy, Comms and Legal) on priority policy issues
- Develop overarching project plans as well as specific plans in areas like policy development and stakeholder engagement in collaboration with workstream leads and monitor execution e.g. by building and maintaining trackers
- Partner with functional and local teams to develop Facebook’s positions on priority policy topics in the region
- Prepare regular updates for leadership including written memos and slide presentations
- Undertake deep analysis and analytical thinking to support strategic direction on policy and interplay with Comms and Legal approaches
- Optimise relationships with external consultants
- Support strategic budget management
- Stay up-to-date on policy developments across the region
- Expert knowledge of policy issues - from a legal, economics or public policy background
- Strong project management skills and proven experience in managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders in a complex organization
- Demonstrable experience of communicating to a wide variety of senior internal and external stakeholders, via verbal, written and presentation forms
