Key responsibilities

  • Provide support to the implementation of projects in sub-Saharan Africa, in close collaboration with our partners
  • Assist in the development of advocacy and policy-oriented materials in close collaboration with our partners
  • Support individual and groups of civil society organisations in determining and executing strategies and plans for advocacy, policy and research activities
  • Assist in securing project funding to ensure the continuity of IPIS¿ research projects
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as project management, event coordination, budget keeping, and contributing to evaluations and reporting
  • Provide support on developing content for communications products for the website, social media, and media
  • Represent IPIS in CSO partnerships and networks (community-based, national and global) and other stakeholders such as government officials and private sector actors

Qualifications

  • Master¿s degree with a preference for political science, conflict & development, law, governance, or development economics
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing advocacy and research initiatives; experience in coordinating or supporting a network or coalition of civil society organisations in such initiatives is a plus.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and other interactive information sessions
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Excellent communication skills with good verbal and written command of English or French and a good working knowledge of the other language
  • Experience in sub-Saharan Africa is desirable and willingness to travel to the region to work with partners or conduct research is essential
  • Strong organisational and personal management skills with the ability to prioritise work issues to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through.
  • Willingness to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including NGOs, academic researchers, policy makers, and business actors
  • Permit to work in the European Union
