Are you interested in the position of Purchaser within Atlas Copco? Then you are responsible for the strategic, tactical and operational purchasing process of your division! In addition, you will also be the contact person for all projects related to Product Development and Product Improvement.

As a Purchaser, you are responsible for the negotiation and conclusion of supply agreements. These agreements are based on four pillars: quality, security of supply, product and process development and total cost. It is up to you, in cooperation with your internal customers and the purchasing departments of different divisions and production facilities, to update and optimize your supplier database and to maintain good relationships with them.


Responsibilities and goals

As mentioned, you will be responsible for the complete purchasing process of the Product Development Projects. This means that you will draw up a purchasing plan, compare quotations and suppliers and finally conclude an agreement. In doing so, you will always take all legal aspects into account.

By continuously researching the market, you are always looking for new possibilities to achieve a minimal total cost of ownership. In addition, you are constantly optimizing the process, while keeping in mind that time management and on-time deliveries are key. It’s up to you to make suggestions on how to improve the supply chain and procedures and to evaluate and improve the supplier’s performances based on the beforementioned four pillars.

You are also the owner of an internal database. By continuously updating this database, you will always have the necessary and correct information to prepare yourself for efficient conversations and/or negotiations. As your internal client’s needs are your priority, you can share all this information with them to keep them informed of the complete purchasing process. In addition, you will support them in the preparation of a budget and plan.

In your role as Purchaser, you will report to the Team Leader. Together you will be responsible for the creation of a strategic annual plan, keeping product group analysis and new opportunities into account. In addition, you will also work on non-commodity projects to generate improvements for the company itself and the supply chain.


Requirements

A purchaser within Atlas Copco:

  • is an Industrial Engineer, Trade Engineer, Economic scientist or has experience in a relevant field
  • has the required product and process knowledge
  • is a good communicator and researcher
  • is a pursuer of operational excellence who monitors the purchase performances closely
  • is dynamic and independent and has an analytic and assertive attitude
  • is good in time management and likes to work in a team
