For its IT Department based in the European Head office, (Belgium-Oudenaarde), Samsonite is currently looking for a dynamic POWER BI/SAP BW HANA SPECIALIST.

As a dynamic member of the IT team in a multinational environment, you will be part of the Business Intelligence Competence Center.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Execute several projects and be responsible for Power BI training and support for power users.
  • Publish and schedule automated refreshes per business requirements.
  • Develop tabular and multidimensional models that follow industry best practice.
  • Develop visual reports, dashboards, & KPIs in Power BI.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for translating data into meaningful visualizations.
  • Work with other analysts and data engineers to identify and understand source data system & business requirements for solutions delivery.
  • Participate in investigation of new technology solutions and selection of new technologies, consult on requirements, building prototypes.
  • Implement row level security on data.
  • Write queries to connect to different data sources.
  • Design, development, and test Power BI solutions, apply best practices in design and development and data visualizations.
  • Understand business requirements and choose a data model that best fits user needs, customizing when needed.

Applicants should ideally:

  • Have knowledge of SQL queries, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS); SAP BW Connector and/or SAP Hana.
  • Have knowledge of MS Power BI suite (Power Query/M/DAX).
  • Have preferable a background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modeling) and data mining.
  • Have SQL Server experience – ability to write complex queries, ETL procedures and automation of database scripts.
  • Have working knowledge of Power Queries.
  • Have a bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent working experience.
  • Be familiar with BI technologies (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, SAP BW/Hana, Oracle BI).
  • Be proficient in English.
  • Be result driven.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple IT projects in a multicultural environment and quickly adapt to changing priorities.
