Discovery Technologies and Molecular Profiling is a part of Therapeutic Discovery of Janssen Research & Development. Within the department resides the High Dimensional Biology (HDB) team, where we are expanding the boundaries of preclinical drug discovery, guiding the development of novel medicine for challenging targets and reducing the risk of side effects by combining large scale high dimensional biology profiling of compounds with AI/ML data analytics.Within the High Dimensional Biology team, there is a full-time opening for a Scientist/Senior Scientist, High Dimensional Cell Biology, Essay Development and Compound Profiling.Your key responsibilities

• Design and implement novel High Dimensional Biology -based assays in microtiter plate format using iPSC derived cell types and other cellular models like co-cultures and 3D cell culture, for advanced AI/ML-based analyses in close collaboration with data scientists.
• Screening and profiling of small molecules, using state of the art screening technology and automation, interpreting the data in terms of cell biology biological questions.
• Represent the team in pre-clinical drug discovery project teams, contributing with custom screening and profiling of small molecules to broadly characterize the cell-biological activity, guiding the optimization of the chemical structure towards a drug candidate.
• Build and maintain positive relationship with other departments including the Disease areas with focus on Neuroscience, Infectious Diseases and Oncology, Medicinal Chemistry, Nonclinical Safety, and Informatics.
• Drive innovation to advance our suite of assays and technologies with novel tools and assay formats, with the goal of generating high-quality data at scale enabling the use of advanced analytics.
• Represent the team towards managerial decision-makers, as well as at internal and external scientific seminars and conferences. Seamlessly work with colleagues from other departments in the company.

QualificationsQualifications

• Ph.D in biology, biochemistry or an equivalent discipline with strong background in cell biology. + 3 years work experience (full-time employment, Postdoc, or equivalent in a position with relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry).
• Hands-on experience with culturing iPSC derived cells, and their application to in vitro assays in a microtiter plate format employing lab automation (pipetting robots, automated plate readers etc.) is essential.
• Biology background in one or more of the disease areas of focus such as neurosciences, immunology or oncology is highly desired.
• Experience with High Content Imaging, and associated image- and data analysis is a plus.
• Strong team player accustomed to work in a highly collaborative environment, flexibly adapting tasks and priorities as needed. High attention to detail, excellent planning and analytical skills
• Proficient in English (both spoken and written), publication of own work in international Journals
