The purpose of the role

To create/ develop winning new products in the field of snacks and maintain the existing snack product portfolio aligned with customer requirements by defining/ delivering technical solutions for business projects.

To lead or participate in the delivery of scientific aspects of projects that deliver the growth and profitability of the European business for specific strategic or targeted customer(s).

To develop on-going relationships with Strategic or targeted customers by providing a technical point of contact for customer’s technical function (usually together with Sales or manager).

Responsibilities
  • To work closely together with the snack Innovation manager, with experienced head chefs and with R&D colleagues having expertise in the snack field, to develop new products based on scientific understanding
  • To set up and define golden standards to enable delivery of authentic, marketable, profitable snack products in collaboration with marketing and customers
  • To create, formulate, and provide process parameters for new snack products aligned with customer, legislative, and food safety requirements, and within the scope of Griffith strategic areas, like health and nutrition.
  • To optimize existing solutions (price, quality), and/or extend or evaluate new / alternative raw materials in product applications, e.g. to create cleaner label products.
  • To participate and engage fully in production trials of new products both internally and at customer locations and to provide technical support in resolving on-going issues. Therefore, a degree of travel and flexibility is required.
  • To develop close working relationships with selected / assigned customers through regular direct contact thereby ensuring that the business understands the customer’s operational processes and technical requirements.
  • To make and conduct presentations, workshops and trainings showing our products in application in a marketable format.
  • To communicate and prepare technical reports.
  • To establish and participate in the European Technical network contributing to local knowledge, technical expertise and promoting / supporting the effective exchange of ideas, opportunities, and operational best practice.
  • To generate awareness of market and technical trends (via collaboration with sales and marketing) & develop / promotes product concepts to fulfil the needs identified.
  • To assists in the coaching and development of more junior members of the team.
  • To work to deadlines set by our customer and ensure that briefs are effectively met within stated timelines.
  • To deal with production and supply chain such that the needs of projects are met.
  • Proactively and visibly supports the Health and Safety standards, rules and regulations of the organisation.
Requirements

Education :

Scientific Bachelor or Master, preferably in the field of food chemistry or physics, or health and nutrition

Experience

Minimum 5-7 years appropriate postgraduate development experience depending upon level.

Language

Dutch, English

Skills & Capabilities

Full driving Licence (preferred)

Computer Skills: Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Words, Outlook.

Creativity skills

Culinary skills

Commercial awareness

Good time management

Good degree of self-motivation

Good communication skills
