Senior General Ledger Accountant

The position

In this role, you will focus on day-to-day activities for three entities in Belgium, two in the Netherlands, and one in the United States. You will introduce GL standards in order to enable accurate analysis and reporting as well as budgeting and forecasting.

You will be part of a team of 5-6 finance professionals and report to the Group Financial Controller. The team is based in Mont-Saint-Guibert (South-East Brussels).

Role & Responsibilities

• Entering financial data such as accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and interdepartmental entries into the ledger on a monthly basis.
• Manage the month-end accounting closing and deliver to deadline.
• Performing account analysis to ensure that journal entries and balances are correct.
• Gathering supporting documentation and performing recordkeeping.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Prepare financial audit and coordinate with external auditors.
• Handle tax filings and ensure compliance with legal obligations in each jurisdiction.
• Implement financial control systems and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

• A degree in Accounting or Finance
• Significant experience in large & international businesses
• 10+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a similar industry (Biotech, pharma, ..)
• In-depth knowledge of Belgian BEGAAP accounting standards and a good understanding of Dutch accounting standards (BENL), including all related legal requirements.
• Proven proficiency in utilizing accounting software and ERP systems. Knowledge of Netsuite is a plus
• Fluent English spoken and written is mandatory. French or/and Dutch is a plus
• Strong focus to detail, accuracy and ability to multi-task
• Can work both independently and as part of a team
