As a Software Engineer/Functional Analyst you work close together with your direct colleagues in the team as well as with people from system operations, other scrum teams, business departments and our external ICT partners.

As a Software Engineer, you can perform functional analyst and technical designer tasks for applications hosted on the Mainframe, the IBMi platform and on Open Systems.

In your role as Software Engineer/Functional Analyst, you are responsible for:

• translating the needs of the end user into technical implementations;
• working out functional analyses
• making technical designs;
• documenting process flows;
• developing new applications
• supporting our internal clients
• contact with external partners

Since most projects currently are situated on the IBMi platform (RPG program language), knowledge of that technology is a plus.

Context
The entity in our client covers the processing of securities. They are talking about a wide range of products like shares, funds, options, etc. They are processing orders coming from clients via a diversity of channels until they are executed on the Markets, manage securities accounts, execute custody processes like dividend payments etc. The main value streams are: Order & Trade, Settlement, Custody and Market Data Services. For each of those streams, there are operational departments, in Belgium and/or in the Shared Service Centre in Brno.

Their clients are the distribution segments (private banking, premium banking, etc) and they also offer BPO surfaces to other financial institutions. Knowing our client being the reference in Belgium as “beleggersbank”, they don’t have to mention the importance of their business.

They are also very aware our organization has to be added to be ready for the future. Therefor a clear strategic focus including attitude anchors for the individuals is in place and a lot of attention is given to it.

This vacancy is situated in the BiiO delivery organization of our client. BiiO stands for Business ICT Integrated Organization and can be considered as the “change” organization of Securities Services. It brings together business and ICT colleagues working on daily support and maintenance of business processes and applications, running feasibility studies and projects. They are hierarchically organized in 8 delivery teams and 1 demand team, but they act as one network organization and virtually as one (big) team.

In our BiiO organization, they work fully SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). BiiO and SAFe are relatively recently introduced, so there’s still room for optimizations and continuous improvement in their way of working, and keep on growing in efficiency and maturity. They might even have a challenge for you, participating in one of their strategic initiatives.

Moreover, innovation in processes and way of working is part of their DNA. So they are quite often involved in new initiatives and/or run pilots on our client’s level.

Obviously working from distance is a very common practice in their teams, also working from home is done frequently. Given these possibilities, we also expect some flexibility in practicalities.
