Your Mission

As a System Designer – Autonomous Train Development, you will play a critical role in designing and developing the next-generation Autonomous Train Operation (ATO) system. You will define requirements, develop system architectures, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to create safe, efficient, and reliable automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities

System Design & Architecture

  • Analyze customer and project requirements to define ATO system specifications.
  • Identify technical risks and propose innovative solutions.
  • Develop formal system models using UML, SysML, SADT methodologies.
  • Define functional and constructional architectures for autonomous train systems.

System Integration & Validation

  • Collaborate with RAM, Safety, Cybersecurity, Software, and Hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Define system elements and interfaces to guarantee compatibility across all subsystems.
  • Conduct simulations and tests to validate system performance and reliability.

Research & Innovation

  • Work on cutting-edge AI and automation algorithms for energy-efficient driving and obstacle detection.
  • Contribute to the continuous evolution of ATO technology, supporting Alstom’s innovation roadmap.
  • Stay updated on railway signaling technologies such as ERTMS and CBTC.

Project Execution & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Support commercial and R&D projects, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Act as a technical interface for operators, suppliers, and auditors.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and system reports.

Required Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • Engineering degree (Master) in Aerospace, Electronics, Automation, Robotics, or Computer Science.
  • Experience in system design & architecture, ideally in safety-critical industries (rail, aerospace, automotive).
  • Proficiency in system modeling tools (UML, SysML, SADT) and architecture frameworks (Capella, PTC IM).

Key Skills & Technologies

  • Experience in V-cycle & Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of railway signaling systems (ETCS, CBTC) is a plus.
  • Understanding of requirement management & traceability.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink for control system design.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving mindset, and ability to work in a highly technical environment.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Background in AI, machine learning, or computer vision for railway applications.
  • Experience with safety-critical software development (EN 50128, ISO 26262).
  • Interest in automation, digital twins, and smart mobility solutions.
