Job Purpose and Impact

Are you a hardworking and agile individual looking for a meaningful career in engineering? We are looking for an Application Engineer I to focus on innovation and product development within our ingredient business, with an emphasis on food and beverage applications. You will support new product development initiatives within Cargill’s ingredient portfolio. You will focus on sensory driven innovation to help move ingredients from concept to commercialization while collaborating with other technical and business teams, including our sensory group. Research efforts involve multifunctional interaction with commercial and technical service teams, as well as customers. As flexibility allows, you will use other ingredients, contributing to additional applications teams projects as well as short term projects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Partners with marketing and sales to meet customer needs and create technical presentations for customers.
  • Work with customers and business partners to identify and deliver on dedicated project opportunities.
  • Assists with product demonstrations and serves as the domain expert during meetings with prospective customers.
  • Aid in preparation of scientific reports or datasheets detailing the organization’s products and their applications.
  • Manage product issues and presents data to product development teams.
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • One or more year of related work experience
  • Experience in product development using novel and/or non-GRAS food ingredients
  • Experience working in beverage food science formulation
  • Demonstrates basic techniques in sensory science following current trends and developments
