Based in Mons, Belgium the Chief Service Operations (CSO) is accountable to plan, transition into service, operate and maintain CIS services throughout this NATO and its’ partners.

The role:

The CSO serves as signature authority for Agency orders involving deployment of staff and equipment to Operations and Exercises and is responsible for CIS operational situational awareness to the General Manager and Chief of Staff. For new CIS services under transition into service, the CSO will execute Business Change Authority to prepare both the NCIA and the receiving operational community to sustain business continuity operations.

The CSO will need to demonstrate deep resilience to managing complex military stakeholders and be able to pivot with ease to new challenges whilst leading and empower their Office of the Chief Service Operations who are focused to foster and sustain the highest levels of customer relationship with the operational User community.

As a key member of the NCIA Executive Management Board, this post will exercise best business operations between the Operational User-facing CIS Support Units to the under-pinning infrastructure services delivered by the NCIA Service Owners. This post is responsible for all Asset Management and logistical support for all NATO owned CIS equipment and for a view of the full responsibilities associated to this critical leadership post within the NCIA you can review the job description here .

To be successful in applying for this post will have:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline at a nationally recognised/certified University supplemented by relevant postgraduate qualifications with 15 years post-related experience
  • At least 15 years of experience in a senior NATO, National or relevant industry related appointment, involving leading and managing business operations in C4ISR domain
  • Thorough understanding of Service Operations and Service Management Control
  • Execution of planning and delivering Exercise operations
  • Proven and demonstrable knowledge and experience for integrating new CIS capabilities into NATO or National operational theatres, to include the development, management, acquisition and implementation of major CIS services and capabilities
  • Proven skills against Change Management initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an integral member of an executive level management team charged with developing and implementing strategic programmes, plans and policies
  • Experience in managing large and diverse and disperse teams
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with good briefing skills
  • Broad understanding of the NATO CIS enterprise
  • Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT
  • Formal qualification(s) in management
  • Ideally experience working in NATO’s committee structure
  • Ideally prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military, civilian, local hire and contractor elements
