To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Chief Sustainbility Officer.

Reporting to the CEO of the Unilin Group, the Chief Sustainability Officer will provide visionary leadership and coordinate with management, internal and external stakeholders, and employees to develop and maintain an effective strategy for sustainability, health, safety & environment.

The Unilin Group has already implemented sustainable business practices for years. But it doesn’t end there. Sustainability is entering our world more and more and it is the biggest economic opportunity of our times. That is why we keep making an extra effort to achieve a wide range of sustainable opportunities. In order to communicate this to all of our stakeholders (staff, customers, investors, various authorities, neighbours, ...) in an honest and transparent manner we translated this sustainability strategy into our OneHome program.

Next to our efforts in sustainability we aim to be a ‘zero harm’ company, with a positive culture, where everyone takes care of each other and safety is ingrained in all our activities. Safe manufacturing must become the standard for all of our activities. This is only possible by integrating safety into everything we do. A large program is being rolled out to evolve towards an accident-free work environment.

Responsibilities

As Chief Sustainability Officer, your main responsibilities are:
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of a consistent sustainability, health & safety strategy for each of the divisions of the Unilin Group.
  • Translate the organization’s strategy into specific policies and programs to ensure that your department contributes towards the realization of our “One Home” and “Zero Harm” strategy. Ensure business leaders include relevant Health, Safety, Environmental and Well-Being considerations and criteria into their decision-making processes and have them implemented throughout their organizations.
  • Evaluate efficacy of current sustainability programs; recommend and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Coordinate and organize the different activities of the divisional HSE departments to ensure an efficient and effective service can be offered that meets the quality criteria of the organization within the set terms.
  • Propose and implement strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, reduction of pollution, recycling, and general education on sustainability.
  • Coach and work on the development of your employees to ensure their competencies, skills and know-how are used and developed to the best advantage and to work as a well-functioning team.
  • Ensure you are well-informed about the evolutions within sustainability, health & safety and that your knowledge is up-to-date within the context of new developments to ensure your credibility can be strengthened by offering a service that is continuously based on update knowledge.

Profile
  • Master’s Degree.
  • 15 years of experience in an international industrial environment. Experience in strategic leadership and change management.
  • A proven track record in dealing with sustainability challenges and installing safety programs.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and understanding of sustainability trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders of multiple levels, within and outside the company.
  • Ability to manage priorities and stay on top of critical responsibilities.
