As Data Protection Officer you are responsible for overseeing the data protection strategy and its implementation to ensure compliance with GDPR requirements.

1- Risk mapping

➔ know and analyze the existing regulations applicable to the activities of Belgium in matters relating to data protection;

➔ conduct audits on data management procedures to ensure compliance and address potential issues proactively;

➔ identify and evaluate the company’s data processing activities;

➔ perform a review of past or current situations, whether internally or externally in order to improve the prevention processes or detection of possible breaches.

2- Definition and updating of the reference frameworks in connection with the frameworks defined by the Group

➔ follow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure compliance;

➔ take note of the standards and guides of the Group Rules and, if needed, adapt them by taking into account local regulations to draft and constitute the body of rules for Belgium;

➔ write and update internal procedures in close alignment with the Operational efficiency / lean department;

➔ share the data protection principles with internal and external stakeholders;

➔ ensure implementation of data protection principles and internal procedures.

3- Prevention in connection with the frameworks defined by the Group

4- Control and piloting of the data protection principles

5- Information and training

➔ educate the company and employees on important compliance requirements;

➔ provide advice and instructions on how to conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs);

➔ train staff involved in data processing;

➔ serve as the point of contact between the company and GDPR Supervisory Authorities and for all internal teams;

➔ interface with data subjects to inform them about how their data is being used, their right to have their personal data erased, and what measures the company has put in place to protect their personal information;

6- People

➔ lead, motivate and develop your team members according the leadership model and guarantee their level of knowledge and expertise;

Profielomschrijving:

  • Master degree
  • Proven expert knowledge of data protection law and practices
  • Experience in data protection and legal compliance by experience of at least 5/7 years in cross-functional functions with achievements in data protection;
  • Solid knowledge of GDPR and national data protection laws;
  • Knowledge of data processing operations in the retail sector is preferable
