Requirement Title: Senior Maintenance Technician - Braine-l’Alleud
Buildings and Facilities section is responsible for keeping NCI Agency Braine-l’Alleud building and external site facilities and technical infrastructure operational 24/7 daily. Beyond and on top of standard building technical installation such as power supply / distribution, lighting, heating & air conditioning (HVAC) system, public address, fire safety, detection and monitoring system, Agency facilities in Braine-l’Alleud are equipped with Access Control, Closed-circuit television (CCTV), perimeter and internal building intrusion prevention & detection devices which are part of Agency security system.
Duties:
Under direction of Buildings and Facilities Manager Brainel’Alleud, you will perform duties such as:
- In close coordination with Buildings & Facilities Manager, execute all contracts stipulated with external firms for operation and maintenance of the premises;
- Act as point of contact with firms responsible for maintenance of technical installation systems of premises (HVAC, Electrical, technical rooms, etc.);
- Supervise operation and maintenance of technical systems and equipment installed within premises;
- Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance plumbing work for hot/cold water, heating, drainage, air-conditioning, ventilation, sanitation, compressed air and catering systems (according to in-force regulations)
- Perform work in the area of electricity, air-conditioning, painting, removal, small rehabilitation and reconstruction;
- Conducts regular and routine checks and testing to ensure building’s management and technical systems are working correctly. In conjunction, conducts supervisory activities to ensure building’s control, detection and monitoring systems work properly;
- Assists in proper functioning and trouble-shooting of Facility support systems i.e. HVAC (heating, ventilation, air-conditioning); electricity systems of facilities and security systems;
- Ensures that support systems of premises are functioning properly according to safety standards and environmental regulations;
- Provides technical advice, guidance and lifecycle issues to management on specific systems within facility;
- Provides technical support and supervisor guidance on technical facilities to ensure Conference Services can execute their function;
- Providing guidance to staff on the utilisation of premises electrical installation;
Duties & Role:
- Captures technical support requirements of building’s occupants and ensure facilities infrastructure can provide for those requirements;
- Procuring all necessary spare parts and technical supplies for operation and maintenance of the premises;
- Supervising the distribution of equipment, goods and services purchased or rented for operation and technical maintenance of premises;
- Participate in 24h on-call roster;
- Assist in relocation of office furniture, technical/scientific equipment, etc.;
- Assist in preparing technical and administrative reports, and maintain drawings and technical documentation of hot/cold water, central heating, drainage, sanitation and compressed air systems ’as built’;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade and skills;
- Work together with the other Buildings and Facilities team members;
- Deputize for higher grade staff, if required;
- You may be asked to support Buildings & Facilities activities in facilities located at Mons
- Perform other duties as may be required.
Requirements:
- Required Security Clearance: NATO Secret
- Higher vocational training in relevant discipline with 2 years post-related experience or secondary educational qualification with 4 years post-related experience
- Solid understanding and experience of technical aspects of electrical, HVAC (cooling etc.), building monitoring systems, fire safety systems; security systems such as CCTV and access control, plumbing, carpentry
- Practical experience in all-round repair and maintenance of technical installations;
- Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment;
- Knowledge of building intelligent monitoring and domestic systems;
- Good knowledge of applicable general building technical installations regulations
- Ability to keep track of and report on activity;
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications (Access, Word, Excel, etc.);
- Desirable Experience and Education:
- - Prior experience of working in international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- - Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT
- Language Proficiency: thorough knowledge of one of two NATO languages (English / French), both written and spoken, is essential and some knowledge of other is desirable. NOTE: Most work of NCI Agency is conducted in English

- Travel: Business travel to NATO and national (NATO and non-NATO) facilities as well as frequent travel between NCIA offices; May be required to undertake duty travel to operational theatres inside and outside NATO boundaries.

- - Coordination and cooperation with other staff of the section and staff of the Agency.
