Your role & work environment

As Expert Domain Lead Accounting Corporate Bank you deliver optimal financial accounting processes and solutions for ING BE, translating business events into the general ledger according to the applicable accounting GAAPs. More specifically the Corporate Bank domain includes Cost Accounting, HR and payroll Accounting, Asset Management, Provisioning, Tax Accounting, Bank levies, Small Subsidiaries and Consolidation activities.

Together with the members of your expert domain you will provide top quality services, aiming for continuous improvement of the accounting and internal control processes. To that end you leverage on the expertise of your domain members in Brussels and in Manila and work in close collaboration with the colleagues in the other accounting expert domains as well as in the Centre of Expertise Reporting & Control, Tax, Finance Business Advice, Tribe Finance & Risk Support Chain and Group Finance.

The Accounting Domain Corporate bank is part of the Centre of Expertise Accounting. The Centre of Expertise Accounting is composed by 3 domains: Lending & Commercial Bank, Treasury & Funding Bank and Corporate bank.

Your key responsibilities

The Expert Domain Lead Accounting Corporate Bank has the responsibility & oversight over :

• Delivery/process : you are end-to-end responsible for the correct and controlled build up and execution of the accounting processes. You understand the needs of the (regulatory) reporting teams. You sign off on the correctness of the accounts. To do so you work in close collaboration with all stakeholders intervening in the process. You ensure (data) quality standards and timelines are met as well as necessary analysis is delivered. You solve impediments when needed. More concretely this means :

• Ensuring compliancy with accounting principles and standards
• Execute the accounting closing process

• Operate & control non-product related closing bookings and required adjustments
• Operate & Control consolidation accounting bookings
• Process the technical and analytical review at account level and comment on evolutions

• Controls/Risk management: You ensure full adherence to the relevant standards by implementing a robust internal control framework over the accounting processes taking into account the current environment as well as future needs and improvements. You are responsible that all non-financial risks are in control in your domain. You make sure your domain members receive the necessary training and updates regarding control issues and have the control mindset at the hart and centre of their activities.

• Change management: Based on the needs (regulatory, process improvement or others) in your domain you coordinate the change activities and assess the impact of new initiatives on the processes within your domain. You pro-actively support the members of your domain in adapting to the change.

• Organisation and Support: you organize your domain to prioritise the tasks and deliveries. You pilot the day-to-day activities. The domain members are functionality reporting to you but hierarchically to the Centre of Expertise Accounting Lead. You also support the technical knowledge development of the people in your domain, and support the Centre of Expertise Lead in the defining the strategic vision.

You are on top of developments which take place in the area of financial accounting and regulatory operations. You know relevant experts and ensure compliancy with regulation. You ensure quality and correctness of information and replies towards external auditors and regulators.

As Expert Domain Lead you need :

• University Master degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• 5-10 year experience in the Finance, Risk or Financial Audit domain, preferably with banking orientation and including managerial roles
• Experience with implementing an internal control framework
• Strong technical Finance & Accounting knowledge and organisation to translate in Accounting & Reporting terms
• Operational Process, Compliance & Cost management experience
• Excellent business partnering & stakeholder skills and willingness to collaborate, combined with strong decision making skills
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating accounting technical issues in understandable language
• Fluent in French or Dutch and English
