For our global organization we are currently looking for an

Associate Director R&D sourcing and procurement

This role can be based in Belgium

The position

You will be responsible for all procurement activities in support of the Organon Research and Development organization. Functions requiring strategic procurement support include, but are not limited to, Global Development & Clinical Safety, Laboratory Services, Medical Affairs, Outcomes Research, Quality and Regulatory.

The Associate Director will report to a Director and take an active leadership role in the development of procurement strategy, global category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management and supplier value management within this category. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing categories with a high degree of complexity and responsible for ensuring that all sourcing strategies are compliant and follow Global Procurement & Supplier Management policies and procedures.


Main responsibilities

  • Leadership: Accountable for development and implementation of robust sourcing strategies that link to core business deliverables while leveraging knowledge of the marketplace and supplier community. Provide leadership and direction for cross-functional teams. Build high performing engagement models with business units and regions.

  • Strategy Development/Implementation: Creates breakthrough sourcing strategies that deliver quick wins and generate legitimate business value

  • Continuous Improvement: Ensure that each supplier relationship is established with a bias for continuous improvement. Support development and monitoring of key performance indicators that demonstrate improvements.

  • Change Management: Utilizes outstanding project, program and change management skills to manage and drive change both internally and externally

  • Contract Negotiation: Reviews and negotiates contract terms and conditions both with internal and external stakeholders, including legal, finance and other relevant teams. Performs detailed analysis of supplier proposals and payment schedules and conducts rigorous price negotiations with suppliers.

  • Diversity: Actively supports diversity, both within Organon as well as expanding relationships and spend with diverse suppliers

  • Category Knowledge: Leverages deep understanding of marketplace, competitors and business requirements. Develop keen insights on near term as well as long-term horizon.

  • Cost Management: Helps to drive the control, containment and reduction of costs for Organon. Participates in supplier performance management activities with key suppliers to foster innovation, manage supplier performance and ensure continuous improvement.

Your profile

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree

  • Several years of strategic sourcing or related experience in a business role

  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and executing complex sourcing projects, with proven ability to complete projects on time and within budget

  • Excellent analytical, project management, oral & written communications, relationship, team building and leadership skills are required.

  • Strong contract development and execution skills

  • Adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments.

  • Solid experience in effectively leading diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve stakeholder, department, and company goals

  • Demonstrated experience in championing changes, communicating candidly, building talent, and achieving results.

  • Demonstrated strong problem solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills

  • Drive results while dealing with ambiguity

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Able to influence at all levels in the organization
