Business Financial Controller

Robert Half is currently looking for a Business Financial Controller for a company situated in Antwerp.

Our client is a big international company active in the logistics sector. They strive to engage, empower and reward their people, both onboard and ashore.

The main accountabilities for this job include:

The core responsibilities of the position will include financial reporting, business budgeting and forecasting and business analysis.

Your responsibilities and roles:

• Drive yearly budget cycle and quarterly cashflow forecast;
• Interpret financial actual performance on different topics by:
  • Producing and providing accurate and in depth analysis with regard to topline, OPEX & G&A;
  • Comparing and analysing Actuals with budget and forecast.
• Drive optimisation and improvement of processes, standardisation of reporting and insight-driven analysis to satisfy the need for management information;
• Support the colleagues in the finance and accounting department on the various tools they currently use for the bookings (CODA XL);
• Increase productivity by developing automated accounting applications to assist the accountants on the daily postings;
• Assist accounting team during quarterly closing and closely cooperate with them;
• Explain processes and techniques and support Sox controls;
• Initiate and create reports and statistics with regard to several operational topics for management further consideration;
• Prepare reports for the various benchmarking participations according to management requirements;
• Establish, monitor and enforce models for calculating ROI on investments.

The requested qualifications for this job:

Formal education: University in Accounting or Finance;

Experience: minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting & Financial reporting or in an international audit firm, Shipping industry experience is a plus;

Languages: Fluent in English.

Qualifications:

• Highly competent in advanced Excel, VBA macros & databases such as MS Access & MS SQL;
• Knowledge of general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, accounting standards and compliance regulations are essential , and you will have to demonstrate the ability to see not only the micro, but also the macro side of things;
• Strong grasp on IFRS requirements is highly valued.
