Zurich Benelux is the leader in commercial insurance in the Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg markets respectively. Risk is an independent second line function within the Zurich Group. The Risk function provides leading constructive challenges to enhance transparency on risk-reward trade-offs facilitating risk-informed decision-making.

We are looking for an organized, structured, committed and ambitious colleague, eager to manage the business risks in line with our strategy.

This is a fulltime hybrid role where you will be working from our office in The Hague, Netherlands, or Zaventem, Belgium; and report to the Chief Risk Officer, Zurich Insurance Europe, and to the Benelux CEO.

Your Role:

  • Lead the Risk function in Benelux including the work of the Benelux Risk and Control Committee
  • Drive risk awareness across the Benelux organization
  • Assist senior management in identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks to the Benelux business, e.g. assessing risk for material portfolios and projects and at Business Unit level, using the Group’s framework for identifying and managing risk
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the Benelux Risk and Control Framework is aligned to the Group policies
  • Be expected to take an active role in the financial planning process and support the strategic work of the Benelux management team

What we are looking for:

  • At least 5-7 years of professional experience working with risk-related matters in a financial services industry. Experience in the management of operational risk and insurance risk is of particular merit;
  • Good understanding of the insurance industry including its current and future development and challenges;
  • Experience of working with Solvency II and other regulatory frameworks relevant to Zurich, and experience from Benelux business, such as the GDPR and the IDD;
  • Academic degree in economics, law or other relevant subject;
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written. Dutch and French is an added asset;
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic orientation as well as excellent relationship management (cooperate and maintain good relations with Risk Group and stakeholders etc.) and presentation skills.
  • Interest and experience in quantitative analysis and modelling is seen as a plus but is not a requirement.
