Data Centre Integration Technician


  • Working Location:Mons, Belgium
  • Security Clearance:NATO Secret / SC

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:


Essential Qualifications/Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or similar
· 5-6+ years of experience as a data center technician, or similar
· Sound knowledge of data center environments, servers, storages and other equipment and virtualization including:
ü Data center cabling and infrastructure
ü Fiber installation and termination
ü Rack and aisle buildout and installation
ü TEMPEST knowledge
ü Health and Safety regulation familiarity concerning data centers
ü Electrical safety protocols
ü Power consumption calculation, monitoring
ü Power and cooling capacity management
ü Power distribution and power redundancy
ü Floor and rack space density calculation
ü Cabling strategies
ü Cooling architecture
ü Forecasting and accommodation data center growth
· Extensive experience in installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment
· Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support, and resolve errors
· Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies
· Proficiency in documenting current design&configuration and to develop/maintain Standard Operation Procedures/Instructions and training guidance
· Willingness to respond to server, storage and networking errors even after working hours
· Sound experience/knowledge ITIL Service Operation knowledge
· Sound experience/knowledge ITIL Asset and Configuration Management


Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

  • Certified in fiber optic splicing and termination; basic installer’s level certification
  • CompTIA ServerPlus, CompTIA Network, or CCNA certification would be advantageous
  • DataCenter certification
  • Health and safety certification
  • ITIL certification
  • Sound experience on BMC ITSM or any ticketing system


DUTIES/ROLE

  • Plan, install and configure new equipment to data centers including fiber and copper cabling
  • Monitor and perform daily physical check of datacenter HW and other equipment
  • Execute duties related to TEMPEST compliance
  • Replace failing parts in a timely manner
  • Provide expertise on the implementation of physical security for IaaS data centers
  • Follow change management process and update network topology diagram and CMDB after installing new or decommissioning old components at data center
  • Perform troubleshoot on data center, identify issues and assist in timely resolution of same
  • Carefully examine power sources and heating and cooling controls, evaluate machine temperature levels for optimal performance
  • Maintain proper record of work operations, events
