Desktop Support Engineer, Belgium - near Diegem

ESP Global Services are currently recruiting for a Desktop Support Engineer to join our team based at one of our customer sites in Belgium.

We are a managed service provider for IT support and infrastructure solutions where we support clients, worldwide, 24/7. Working as a Desktop Support Engineer you will provide on-site IT support resolving desktop problems and maintaining hardware in line with defined operating procedures and within agreed contractual service levels within a Corporate environment on a permanent basis. There will be an element of this role working in the field supporting more of ESP customers.

We are looking for people who are passionate about technology and increasing their existing knowledge, whilst delivering exceptional customer service.

A snapshot of what you will be doing:

  • Respond to customer incidents and service requests and manage through to a successful resolution
  • Deliver desk-side support services to the customer
  • Deliver hard and soft break fix services for laptops and desktops across the site
  • Provide standard and approved hardware and software support and maintenance on desktop devices
  • Support, manage and maintain the configuration and installation of desktops, including patch updates and hardware replacements
  • Monitor security profiles and anti-virus software on all Desktop Devices and take appropriate action in the event of non-compliance with security requirements.
  • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
  • Upgrading the entire system to enable compatible software on all computers.
  • Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
  • Performing tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.
  • Providing support to users and being the first point of contact for error reporting

What are we looking for?

  • At least 1-3 years’ experience of working onsite providing Desktop Support/ Field Support
  • Able to demonstrate strong working knowledge of ITIL Service management framework
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent customer service skills, Dutch speaker, English speaker and French speaking (B2 minimum)
  • Good knowledge and experience in Microsoft Desktop Software and Operating Systems
  • An understanding of network protocols, server hardware and configurations or other IT qualifications
  • Ability to lift / move computer equipment weighing up to 50Lbs.
  • Driving licence B is required
  • A strong knowledge of Linux and MAC is highly desirable and will be prioritised

This role will be working a 9-hour day (including 1 hour for lunch) in a Monday – Friday 8am-5pm

ESP offers a basic salary up to €32,000.
