BelGaN is a new company with a vision to become a leading 200mm automotive-qualified GaN (Gallium-Nitride) foundry in Belgium, at the heart of a “GaN Valley” ecosystem in Europe and beyond.

BelGaN will transform into a dedicated GaN-focused semiconductor technology company. BelGaN will innovate, develop, and bring to market an extensive roadmap of state-of-the-art and novel GaN technologies.

To realize this and be successful, BelGaN is planning to significantly expand its R&D team and is looking for multiple talented semiconductor engineers and technical managers, both juniors and seniors, for a variety of technical and business domains . Experience in GaN is a strong asset, but we are also looking for engineers & technical mgrs with background in other semiconductors (e.g. Si, SiC) or related domains (e.g. electronics circuits and power applications), that want to make the transition to the exciting and expanding world of GaN. Also, young engineers soon graduating with a MSc or Phd degree in solid state physics, micro/nano-electronics, power IC circuits or power electronics, or adjacent fields in chemical/physical/electronic sciences, technologies, and products, will be considered.

We are planning an intense and high-quality training program on GaN science and technology.

Job Title & Function:

GaN DEVICE DESIGN & CHARACTERIZATION R&D ENGINEER Senior.

As part of the GaN team, you will be responsible for the architecture design, the development, and qualification new GaN HEMT devices and technologies. You will collaborate with colleagues in process -development and -integration, reliability-engineers etc. to achieve the target technology functionalities & performance, reliability, yield, quality and cost. Your job includes GaN device design (using TCAD tools as well as layout-tools), testchip design, collaborating in setting-up and running process experiments, extensive electrical and physical characterization, as well as data analysis and reporting, throughout an Agile process of iterations (learning cycles) to achieve all set targets. As part of this, you might also set-up collaboration with external partners, such as universities. We are looking both for Junior and Senior engineers, to become technical experts and/or leading small teams of professionals.

Qualifications:

• You are a MSc or PhD in the field of semiconductor devices and solid-state physics. Know-how and hands-on experience with GaN technologies and devices is an important asset, but any engineer with knowledge of (semiconductor) solid-state physics and strong interest in GaN might qualify (training is planned).
• You are strongly data/facts-driven and skilled in electrical characterization, data-analysis and reporting methods and tools (e.g. Jump). Knowledge/experience in TCAD and/or electrical characterization is an asset.
• You are a passionate, quality-driven professional with a ‘get-it-done’ problem solving attitude.
• You are a strong team player, fully committed, responsible and accountable for your domain results (technical, milestones, cost).
• You have an appetite for creativity and innovation, keep yourself acquainted of progress in research and industry in your field, with an open mindset embracing external knowledge, e.g. through collaborations with top-notch universities and partners (‘open innovation’).
