Location: Home office in any major city in EU

My client has been able to adapt and diversify over the years to cover many markets such as adhesives, construction, detergents, lubricants, paints and inks, plastics, polyurethane, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals.
We are looking for a dynamic person who is customer orientated and takes pride on delivering a high level of customer service.
The Global Business Development Manager-Foods Ingredients- Specialities Chemicals is concerned with improving and growing a business, by establishing and developing relationships with the main suppliers in the market.
You’ll identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow.
Your work can involve careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate markets, or enhancing the operation of the business, position, or reputation in some way.
You may have a single role in the organisation or lead a team of staff. Your work will often reach across all areas of the business.
This position reports to Managing Director Life Sciences
Mission – Keys responsibilities :
- To understand our existing portfolio in order to co-define the food group strategy and extend our food print within our subsidiaries.
- Research and identify new business opportunities linked to our existing business in food, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching existing markets
- Generate leads and cold call prospective suppliers
- Meet with suppliers face to face or over the phone / Foster and develop relationships with suppliers
- Understand the needs of the market and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these.
- Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
- Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
- Have a good understanding of the businesses’ suppliers, products or services and be able to advise others about them
- Ensure staff are on board throughout the organisation, understand the need for change and what is required of them
- Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
- Look with the local MD the requested warehousing level linked to every country.
- Seek ways of improving the way the business operates / Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
- Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world
Qualification et Experience :
- University degree in chemistry, chemical engineer, biochemistry, food technologist or similar
- Commercial Experience of 6-8 years in the food ingredients market, preferably in a distribution market, with international exposure.
- Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with suppliers Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets / initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch, includes the ability to analyze sales figures and write reports.
- The ability to multitask and prioritize your workload /Project management and organizational skills.
- Teamworking skills and a collaborative approach to work /Decision-making skills
- The ability to motivate yourself and set your own goals – Resilient - The ability to think strategically
- Excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication with suppliers and key actors of the food market - Negotiating skills
- Fluent in English - Written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills
- Frequent Travelling Globally
