Job Purpose and Impact

Trade & Capital Markets (TCM) is a financial services business consisting of more than 300 employees located across 15 countries in each region of the world transacting on business opportunities in more than 40 countries. TCM provides innovative financing solutions to emerging market banks, farmers, and corporate customers in a timelier manner or with more favorable structures than traditional banks can provide. TCM’s experience and expertise in global financial markets enable this offering while mitigating documentary, cross-border and credit risks associated with structured trade finance.

This position is a key member of TCM directly responsible for managing financial planning and analysis (FP&A), accounting and control activities while providing leadership to the TCM Finance teams located in Singapore, China, US, Mexico, Brazil, and Bulgaria. In FP&A, the incumbent will lead a finance team focusing on value creation by providing action-oriented business insights and analysis. Within accounting and controlling, the incumbent will lead the accounting reviews for all new TCM structures and partner with TCM’s structuring team and Cargill’s technical accounting COE to ensure compliance with US GAAP. Finally, the incumbent will lead accounting and reporting activities, ensuring an effective control environment and accurate and timely accounting reporting for TCM structures.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide strategic leadership, development and talent management activities for direct reports and their teams which may include forecasting resource needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and budgeting. You will also coordinate subordinate managers and supervisors in selecting staff to align with current and future needs of the organization.
  • Using advanced knowledge of business and accounting principles and practices, review and analyze complex financial statements and reports for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Business partnering with structuring, legal, tax and the technical accounting COE to find accounting solutions for TCMs products and ensure all products are appropriately accounted for across TCM and its business group partners
  • Oversee all accounting and reporting activities for the 70+ legal entities across 20+ countries. Ensure the organization has deep knowledge and benchmarking of local financial market and regulatory environment, regulatory requirements and compliance issues, accounting policies and both US GAAP and local accounting standards, providing reports and analysis to management to monitor performance and exposure, including deal level reporting.
  • Lead the finance team to understand, translate, and provide insight into business performance and identify key metrics that drive performance relative to strategic priorities. Demonstrates broad and diverse commercial and operational knowledge of TCM with a strategic understanding of how all areas come together and drive business growth.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience with financial operations teams with exposure to trade capital markets is a plus
  • Prior experience with complex financials products
  • Strong technical accounting skills (using US GAAP) in order to understand to navigate the guidance and the implications on the business.
  • Ability to persuade and influence at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Self-motivated with highly developed organizational skills
  • Good balance between confidence and humility
  • Ability to innovate and learn new products/solutions and motivate change
