Group Internal Auditor Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ)

(full-time)

The purpose of this role is to build and implement a reliable assurance audit framework according to the ISRS (International Sustainability/Safety Rating System) methodology, be an assessor of SHEQ performance across all divisions, execute the PDCA-cycle and provide input on how to further enhance the business improvement activities.

In this role you are going to work with all divisions and act as a knowledge holder in the field of auditing. You will provide solicited and unsolicited advice in their working areas and communicate proactively to all stakeholders within our organisation. The Group Internal Auditor advises management and the divisional SHEQ departments regarding the performance of our sites and advises how to further improve these. Another important aspect is to assure that the existing SHEQ standards are safeguarded.

The Group Internal Auditor reports to the Group Audit Manager, is part of Group SHEQ and works together with all company divisions.

Your Most Important Responsibilities
  • Execute audits according to the ISRS (International Sustainability/Safety Rating System) methodology.
  • Assist manager with implementation of ISRS methodology and internal assurance auditing policies.
  • Setup a reliable assurance audit framework.
  • Conduct independent SHEQ audits and prepare various analyses.
  • Report and communicate observations to the sites.
  • Provide feedback on performance with a view of improving standards and driving a uniformed way of working across the organisation.
  • Recording, reporting, monitoring the audits and tracking actions.
  • Assist with the creation of the Group Audit content in line with the modules of the SHEQ covenant.
  • Increase safety concerns in Assure and reduce Total Recordable Incident Rating (TRIR).
  • Assist with the development of the internal awareness safety standards program, Renewi Academy.
  • Work on SHEQ projects with the team.
What are we looking for?
  • You are at least in possession of a relevant bachelor’s degree.
  • Ideally you have at least 5 years’ experience in auditing.
  • It’s a plus if you are familiar with the ISRS methodology.
  • You have affinity with safety in the process or waste industry.
  • You are critical in your actions and want to achieve optimum results.
  • You constantly ask yourself if processes can be improved or made more efficient.
  • You are known for your strong communication skills and decisiveness.
  • You can plan and execute your tasks by yourself but also able to work with the Group SHEQ team on various projects.
  • You can keep a good overview, show initiative and feel responsible.
  • You are willing to travel to our sites across Europe (BE, FR, NL, PT, UK).
  • Ideally you live in Belgium.
  • Your knowledge of both the French and English language is excellent, the knowledge of the Dutch language is a plus.
  • You want to get things done and you can implement changes.
