John Cockerill is as a matter of fact the world leader in the delivery of electrolyzers for the large-scale production of green hydrogen with more than 50 MW delivered in 2020.
Nature & Scope
Within the R&D unit of the technical department in the Hydrogen Business Line, you contribute to the development of innovative solutions in line with the product and technology roadmaps. More specifically, this hands-on position offers the opportunity to operate top-notch test facilities and to impact product performance, reliability, and durability.
Main duties
- With the support from the technical department, you are in charge of the improvement and tweaking of the test benches, ranging from the single cell to the MW-scale
- You ensure the operational character of the test benches and the proper working of the various sensors
- You take part to the definition and planning of the test campaigns in order to qualify the new developments
- You conduct these test campaigns, collect and process the data, take part to the analysis and to the writing of reports according to the company’s procedures in order to ensure the quality and repeatability of the tests
- You take part to the reporting meetings to the technical team and management
- You perform Root Cause Analysis/Failure Mode Analysis and recommend actions in order to improve the product design
- You take part to the analysis on the return on experience of projects
- The role could involve the coordination and direction of work amongst technicians and/or student interns
Skills
- Analytical, team player, problem-solver, hands-on, and autonomous
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience with failure mode analysis, and verification and validation (V&V) management
- Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
- Knowledge of data processing tools (R, MATLAB, Octave) is preferred
Profile
- BSc/MSc in mechanical, electrical, process, or aerospace engineering
- At least 5 years professional experience in a similar position in the automotive, aerospace, or energy storage industry
- A previous experience in a similar position in the fuel cell & hydrogen or in the flow battery industry is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written command of English and French
- Working knowledge of Dutch, German or Chinese is a bonus
