If you are hired at Carrefour Belgium, you are part of a team of around 10,000 motivated employees, spread over around 800 stores and the head office. Carrefour Belgium is one of the most renowned retailers in Belgium with different store formats / concepts: Carrefour Hypermarkets, Carrefour Market and Carrefour Express.

The System Engineer focuses on how to design, integrate, and manage complex systems over their life cycles & works in collaboration with the project manager and the architect.

His/her main responsibilities consists in delivering mission critical infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance & security.

  • She/he participates in project rollouts, installs, configures, tests and maintains operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • She/he supervises the installation and access of the system
  • She/he proactively ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • She/he participates in the design of information and operational support systems, develops solutions based on an analysis of the organization’s functional need
  • She/he provides advice on the use of software and equipment related to the system
  • She/he develops methods for comparing system hardware and software
  • She/he ensures the optimization and proper evolution of the systems to increase performance while simplifying the work of other staff
  • She/he monitors and tests application performance for potential bottlenecks,
  • She/he identifies possible solutions and works with developers to implement those fixes
  • In maintenance: she/he manages & monitors all installed systems and infrastructure, maintains security, backup, and redundancy strategies. She/he writes and maintains custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks ; automates maintenance and alerting.
  • She/he provides 2nd and/or 3rd level support, independently resolves system problems and/or malfunction and liaises with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • She/he verifies the confidentiality of the information passing through the network and set up the protection systems, she/he cooperates with IT Security to implement recommended measures & security patches

Our candidate:

  • Has a Master’s or a Bachelor’s Degree, in IT is a plus
  • Has an experience of min 5 years in a similar function
  • Presents a knowledge of tools according to expertise (Network, Cloud, SAP…)
  • Masters English and French or Dutch and French
