Platform engineers enable product groups’ effective value delivery over time through an industrialized, cost-effective platform. They spend much of their time automating the platform and its usage’ experience, so that teams using the platform can focus on added value activities.


The Lab platform engineer will be responsible for the following activities and functions:

  • Develop and execute global strategy for Lab infrastructure/application services

  • Design the Lab application services to guarantee redundancy, resiliency, performance and state of the art architecture. This should be aligned with group standards and Enterprise Architecture function
  • Govern vendors for Lab app services, with support of platform Service Delivery Manager: SLAs, KPIs, service reviews
  • Drives application support
  • Drives Lab app deployments
  • Sponsor major initiatives involving/impacting Lab services to improve end-user experience through Group product delivery (Connected Research journey)
  • Deliver innovation thanks to technology watch and experimentation (product roadmap, evolution of Solvay service catalog, training,...)
  • Enforce security as per group standards
  • Responsible for budget, resources, security and capacity management for IoT services
  • Develop strategic relationship with partners and vendors

Education and Experience

Master’s degree or engineer school
10 to 15 years in Technology services

  • Recognized leader of successful teams for Lab Infrastructures and operations delivery
  • Relevant experience in a global company and matrix organization
  • Experience in vendor management, project management and governance
  • Experience in design and transformation
  • Track record in project management, including resources management, planning and delivery on commitments
  • Full-stack knowledge of infrastructure delivery for connected lab services:
    • Connectivity (IP and Non-IP networks)
    • Infrastructures (Local & Cloud hosting)
    • Data storage
    • Data processing with HPC implementations
  • Understanding and knowledge of Regulations, Standards and Frameworks
  • ITIL environment experience
