Position Summary
For our Legal & Compliance department we are searching a temporary Legal Counsel (May-November ’22)
(HQ Brussels or Amstelveen)


In your role you are responsible for:


  • Advising on all commercial aspects of our different business activities in the Benelux.
  • Reviewing and advising on strategies and initiatives related to consumer goods.
  • Supporting the development of promotional activities and ensuring compliance with existing marketing and consumer protection laws.
  • Acting as a data privacy specialist, ensuring GDPR compliance and striking the right balance between protecting and using personal data. You will be responsible for supporting and implementing all aspects of (global and local) data protection compliance strategy and advising on legal matters regarding data protection/privacy.
  • As data privacy champion, you are responsible for coordinating data protection compliance matters for their area, including data register, data breaches, point of contact internally (management and global Data Protection Officer) and externally (Data Protection Authority), raising awareness within the company on data protection matters, etc. You are part of a multifunctional team driving and assessing projects that combine eBusiness, IT/Digital and legal aspects.
  • Legal research, follow-up and implementation of legislative innovations surrounding commercial and data privacy laws.
  • Being a business partner that proactively shapes and challenges the business by delivering legal, compliance, regulatory, risk and reputational management strategies and solutions.
  • Combining excellent legal expertise and impactful communication skills.


We are looking for someone who has:


  • Master in law Dutch or Belgian law (with orientation commercial law)
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in the legal profession or as a company lawyer
  • Excellent command of Dutch or French and English.
  • Excellent mastery of systems and tools
  • Proven experience in commercial law, consumer law and data protection law
  • Knowledge and big interest in the world of FMCG/Food
  • Communicative ability
  • Autonomous and proactive
  • Analytical
  • Service oriented and business sense
  • Results-oriented and strong organizational
  • Good stakeholder management skills
