Policy Internship

Are you passionate about renewable energy? Do you have an interest in politics and EU affairs? Are you fluent in written and spoken English?

Then this opportunity is perfect for you!
EGEC, the voice of the geothermal sector, seeks a policy intern to support its activities on the European Green Deal, climate as well as advancing renewable heating, cooling and power.

What we are looking for:
We are currently looking for someone with around 18 months experience of EU affairs and the ability to write and communicate effectively in English. You will support EGEC’s policy team engagement with decision-makers, media and the industry. The role has a strong policy communications element based on excellent writing skills in English, experience of digital and written communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing and creating products for social media and other media platforms.
  • Engaging with our eco-system of members, influencers and decision-makers.
  • Developing ideas for combining policy messages and innovative formats.
  • Conducting background research and writing memos, event notes and issue briefings.
  • Drafting content for articles and newsletters.

Essential:

  • 18 months experience of internships in Brussels or elsewhere of writing policy positions or communication documents.
  • EU national or Belgian work permit holder.
  • Native-level command of English; additional language skills an asset.
  • Strong presentation skills - ability to present information in a clear and visually appealing way.
  • Ability to work in a team, whilst at the same time carrying out own tasks independently and to agreed deadlines.
  • Proficient with IT and new media tools.

Desirable:

  • Experience writing position papers.
  • Experience producing social media content.

What we offer:

  • A six-month paid traineeship under a Belgian contract, with possibilities for a long-term contract after the traineeship period.
