Your role and responsibilities:

As Project Engineer you are responsible for the design, budget evaluation, realization and implementation of technical investments on a project basis. The realization is carried out against a defined scope according to a predetermined and approved quality, timing and budget.

You report to the Group Engineering Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities are:

Provide technical advice in connection with investment projects:

• Acquiring and applying the necessary technological knowledge
• Follow up development in technology and science

Working out projects in project teams:

• Guiding and driving force of the project team
• Prepare project definition and have it approved
• Set up project organization and have it approved
• Reporting "status of ongoing projects"
• Reconciling various interests (production, maintenance, environment, safety, etc.)
• Monitor budget and planning and project scope and adjust if necessary
• Managing draftsman / job seekers and automation engineers
• Investigate and lead feasibility studies and designing reliable, ergonomically-responsible and safe installations that function at an economically acceptable operating costs.

Furthermore you are responsible for:

• Implementation of the investment projects for all (international) production sites. This implies: drafting technical specifications, search and consult suppliers, prepare purchase files together with the procurement department, guiding external contractors and research/study offices, ensure that the organization of the internal user is adapted to the new investment, etc.
• Project evaluation: the objective evaluation of the realized project approach and check whether the delivered result corresponds with the objectives.
• Providing technical expertise to all production sites and sharing of best practices.
• Follow-up of new technological evolutions through seminars, supplier contacts, fairs, etc.
• Developing and keeping up to date of engineering standards and working methods.

About you

• You hold a Master degree in Engineering (civil or industrial) and you have minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in similar role in an engineering and project management environment.
• Preferably you already have experience in the food industry (process, logistics and packaging).
• You have proven knowledge of hygienic design, and always give priority on safety in the design.
• You are capable to manage and lead important CAPEX projects.
• You have a broad basic engineering knowledge and a good knowledge of energy & utilities such as electro, steam, industrial cooling and fluid transport.
• Knowledge of safety, ergonomics and environmental standards is a strong plus.
• You are interested in designing maintenance-friendly and low-maintenance installations).
• You have a passion for technology.
• You are not familiar with knowledge of designing hygienic installations.
• You have excellent project skills and strong facilitation skills.
• You are proactive with good organization and planning skills. At the same time, you are pragmatic, problem-solving, creative and looking for initiative.
• Above all you are ambitious, energetic, driven and open to receive and give challenges. Your drive will motivate you to go the extra mile in engaging others (e.g. internal stakeholders).
• You like working together in a team and on the same time you are also able to work autonomously.
• You are eager to work in an international environment and can work in a multidisciplinary team.
• You are flexible and resistant to stress.
• You are a good communicator and a strong negotiator.
• You have a fluent knowledge of English. French, Dutch and German are a plus.
• You are willing to travel (max 60%).
