Context & Mission

Within product development we are looking for an experienced project leader to strengthen the centrifugal team of Koen Peeters (Turbo Technology). This team is the team that focuses on dynamic compression and is responsible for developing and maintaining centrifugal products and technology. Developments can range from scratch to upgrading current products. You operate in an international setting where engineering and production do not necessarily take place at the same location.

Team

Your product development team (depending on project your team varies between 10 to 30 colleagues) will consist of specialists from different disciplines such as aerodynamic engineers, mechanical engineers, designers, constructors, rotor dynamics specialists, test engineers, software engineers... Also members of other departments will strengthen your team, such as purchasing, process and production.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • As a project leader you guide a cross-functional team from the engineering phase to the final series production, monitoring the project scope, timing and budget. You manage all risks and issues in a structured manner.
  • Your team oversees the entire process of research, design, testing prototypes and entering series production.
  • You are responsible for defining the project specifications together with all stakeholders and for setting up the entire project approach and plan. You report regularly to management and maintain a good relationship with the customer.
  • You look for innovations together with the R&D unit and external parties such as universities.
  • You work according to the NPPI (New Product and Process Introduction) process to guarantee product and process quality.As project leader of a product development project, you are also responsible for the technical part of the project. This means:

- Ensuring technical coherence during the design phase, supported by the latest CAD-CAE and development tools.

- Setting up a test program in collaboration with the test engineer.

- Evaluating the test results, together with the test engineer and technology engineer

- Guiding from concept to industrialization, in close cooperation with process and production engineers, purchasing department and suppliers.

Educational, Experience and Knowledge requirements

  • Master (of Science) in (Electro-)Mechanical Engineering. PhD is a plus.
  • Relevant experience in a similar position as Project Leader or Project Manager in the manufacturing industry.
  • You are familiar with the principles of project management and have organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of rotor dynamics and turbomachinery is an advantage.
  • You communicate fluently in English.

  • You work in 38.33 hours/week
  • Flexible working hours: you choose when you start between 6.30 am and 10.00 am. Your working day will end between 2.45 pm and 6.15 pm. General flexibility: there is also a lot of flexibility outside these flexible hours. If overtime is worked, these hours can be compensated.
