The Institute of Tax Law at KU Leuven is in charge of teaching all areas of national, international and European tax law at the Law Faculty of KU Leuven. It is doing research in all these areas. Since several years professor Luc De Broe holds a special chair which is funded by Deloitte, the purpose of which is to do research on policy matters in international and European direct and indirect tax law.
Responsibilities
The researcher will carry on research under supervision of Prof. Luc De Broe in different areas of international, European and Belgian tax law. As in the recent past, the research will cover the OECD and EU actions in the area of taxation of the digitalised economy and minimum taxation of multinationals. Furthermore, the research will focus on the EU initiatives in the area of taxation that accompany the European Green Deal (revision of the existing energy taxation rules and the Emission Trading System, the enactment of a Carbon Adjustment Mechanism, etc.) as well as on the measures to be proposed by the Belgian government to realize a shift from taxation of labour to a system based on the polluter pays-principle.
Profile
  • The candidate holds a degree in law with a minimum of cum laude and ideally a master in taxation or an LLM in taxation with a minimum of cum laude.
  • The candidate has some years of experience as a researcher or tax practitioner in the above areas of law.
  • The candidate fluently speaks and writes Dutch, English and French. Knowledge of German is an asset.
Offer
The job is a part-time assignment requiring the researcher to spend two days per week in Leuven to carry on research. The assingment is for a period of 12 months which could be extended with 6 months.
