Salesforce seeks to hire a proactive, business-oriented, and tech-savvy financial services attorney to serve as product and regulatory counsel supporting our product teams and product lawyers. You will play an important role in driving compliance policies and processes, as well as regulatory advocacy, relating to Salesforce’s development and ongoing support of financial services products.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a resident expert and resource on financial services issues and regulations, particularly those in EMEA (including DORA), as these topics relate to the entire Salesforce suite of services.
Provide guidance to executives, engineers, product managers, and product counsel on financial services regulatory requirements related to new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Together with the broader Privacy, Product, and Technology legal teams, roll out requirements in partnership with Product, Marketing, Employee Success, Enablement, and IT by translating policies and standards into procedures and guidelines.
Provide training to product counsel on financial-services-related issues as they impact Salesforce’s product portfolio and build compliance with applicable financial services requirements into development and launch of new features.
Partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Commerical Legal to develop effective, easily-accessible communications to customers to support them on their compliance journey.
Work with Product Counsel to create standardized legal review processes and content for the launch of new communications and messaging for products and features.
Work with Government Affairs and Regulatory Compliance team on financial services regulatory developments.
Establish/maintain relationships with policymakers and regulators in key jurisdictions.
Provide competitive analysis of relevant regulatory compliance strategies of key market players.
Build cross-functional relationships with business teams as well as other internal stakeholders.
Provide strategic and timely cross-functional advice and training on relevant regulatory issues and processes.
Required Skills/Experience:
Law degree and admitted to practice in at least one EU jurisdiction
8+ years combined financial-services-related experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
Expertise in advising on key regulatory requirements in the financial services space, including experience with both EU and US financial services regulations and proposed regulations (e.g., DORA).
Sound and practical business judgment, especially in navigating gray areas where the application of traditional regulations to new technologies is unsettled in law and practice
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Highly responsive with a service-oriented attitude
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients
Collaborative team player combined with the ability to work independently
Sense of humor
Desired Skills/Experience:
In-house experience at a technology or financial services company, with significant transactional and product counseling experience and familiarity with emerging technologies in the workplace collaboration space
Substantive expertise in laws governing financial services in as many jurisdictions/regions around the world as possible (e.g., DORA)
Well-grounded knowledge of intellectual property law
