The Hardware Design Engineer’s primary responsibility is to take a leading role in the design, development, and testing of electrical hardware designs for wireless audio products used by musicians and performers worldwide. Primary responsibilities include analog/digital hardware system design, electronic circuit schematic entry, PCB layout, expert-level contribution to design reviews, expert-level electrical testing/troubleshooting, achieving electromagnetic and safety compliance, hardware schedule/task development, documentation, contract manufacturer technical support, and technical staff mentoring. Secondary responsibilities include support for sustaining products and production text fixtures, as well as electronic part approvals. Analyze new product proposals and customer requirements to determine technical feasibility

• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, embedded, DSP, software, QA, etc.) and other key stakeholders to determine the optimum approach to meeting the functional and technical requirements for a given product proposal. This includes system architectures, interfaces and development/test methodologies
• Collaborate with Product Owners to clarify and refine product requirements
• Design analog and digital hardware systems that meet unique real-time audio processing requirements
• Develop schematic diagrams and PCB layouts for analog and digital circuits
• Debug and troubleshoot hardware prototypes.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable international EMC, safety and intentional radiator standards
• Partner with Project Management to ensure that all project development deliverables are completed within the specified schedules and cost targets
• Assist in leading team in hardware development process for products from concept all the way into production
• Analyze and document complete systems

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience/Qualifications Required

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 3-5+ years’ experience in audio hardware development.
• Senior-level experience/knowledge in the following areas:
• Designing and troubleshooting digital and analog hardware.
• Developing schematic diagrams PCB layouts.
• Use of a wide range of hardware and software development tools.
• Use of analog and digital hardware simulation software.
• Hardware design, analysis and implementation techniques.
• Musical background a plus
• Fluent in English, french or dutch is a plus

Skills Required

• Ability to use schematic capture and PCB layout software
• Ability to use lab equipment including spectrum analyzers, Audio analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, etc.
• Ability to work with little supervision and be highly motivated and be able to motivate others
• Ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals both inside and outside of the company
• Team leading experience a plus
• Knowledge of product development methodologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work well in a highly-collaborative environment
• Ability to accurately provide development time/resource estimates for a given set of technical/project requirements
• Experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers is highly desired.
• Familiar with leading PCB technology and electrical design and characterization of the following areas:
• Expertise in board CAD tools including Altium or Cadence
