The Chemical Process Research and Development (CPRD) department is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to join our team in Belgium. We have two innovative chemical pilot plants in Beerse and Geel which support the development of new chemical processes and produce Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) used in clinical trials. The pilot plants are constantly innovating their technology and data infrastructure to accommodate for future product and development needs. As Senior Operations Manager you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Chemical Development Pilot Plant (CDPP) in Geel. This includes people management responsibility for the operational teams who are working in a 24/7 shift system. Your top priorities are the safety, quality and compliance of the plant. The CDPP works closely together with the Chemical Development MiniPlant (CDMP) in Beerse, and the two plants are encouraged to be well aligned with respect to people management, safety and quality procedures and systems (e.g., planning, budgeting). Your responsibilities, among others, are the lead of the daily TIER 2 meeting, periodic stand-by for the CDPP and the site, and adherence to all J&J people management processes. You are the spokesperson for safety and quality inspections. You are part of a team of engineers and scientists that leads new product introduction (NPI) projects, technical projects, the plant systems, and you are expected to have a technical or scientifical understanding of these projects and take part in or lead projects yourself, such as continuous improvement projects. The production site in Geel is the Janssen commercial launch site for new products and as member of the Geel Extended Leadership Team (ELT), you are taking part in the Geel site governance, and you play also a meaningful role in bridging between CPRD and the commercial production organization. Qualifications Qualifications A scientific or engineering background and 5-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry within the area of process chemistry /chemical operations preferred Experience And Skills A strong background of people management experience, or a demonstrated strong leadership style from working in project teams. Differentiating Competencies Team focussed and willing to strongly align your activities with the manager of the CDMP. An engaging leader and able to meet objectives in a highly dynamic operational environment A strong safety, quality and compliance mentality. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficient in both Dutch and English. You communicate effectively with partners at multiple levels of the organization.
