Position Overview
Janssen Research & Development develops treatments that improve the health and lifestyles of people worldwide. R&D development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, pulmonary hypertension and reproductive medicine. At Janssen R&D within Analytical Development (AD) – we are recruiting a Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist in the field of Particle and Powder characterization, based in the greater area of Antwerp, Belgium.
The scientist will join the Advanced Materials Characterization and Investigations (AMCI) group within AD. AMCI is a diverse team of scientists, approx. 40 persons, leading global analytical investigations and advanced characterization for the Small Molecule R&D and commercial products portfolio.
Within the subunit Particulate systems and metals, we are currently looking for a highly motivated scientist in the field of particle and powder characterization. The scientist will be responsible for characterization (strategies) of particulate systems incl. the active ingredient, excipients, drug product intermediates (e.g. pre-blends, granulates and final blends) and solid dosage forms. Through collaboration in cross functional teams (incl. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Development) the scientist will contribute to development and selection of materials with appropriate physical attributes towards pharmaceutical product and process development in line with the therapeutic product profile & selected platforms e.g., continuous manufacturing of oral solid dosages.
Main responsibilities include:
- The scientist will continuously evaluate analytical characterization strategies in order to provide the best support possible to the project teams in CMC development.
- The scientist will bring strong expertise in analytical techniques in the area of particle and powder characterization and relating these to product and process performance.
- Be spokesperson for projects in scope of Continuous manufacturing (Oral solids) and take the lead in progressing the Janssen Materials Property database and integration with relevant process information.
- Responsible for Academic collaboration & internal innovation; incl. identification of opportunities, prioritization in objectives in line with CMC development objectives up to research proposal submission & funding
- Prepare CAPEX investment plans to consolidate (and expand) capabilities.
- You will design, set up and perform experiments in the lab and will ensure integration of the results and meet project deliverables.
- You will interact with internal stakeholders and work with them in cross-functional Chemical Development, Drug Product Development, and Analytical Development teams.
