Job Description

In this function, the applicant will assist in and contribute to the advanced characteristation and analysis of SiC MOSFETs. More specific, the job function entails following topics

  • ultra-fast Bias Temperature Instability (uf-BTI): characterization of the Vth instabilities on SiC MOSFETs using state-of-the-art uf-BTI measurements to detect electron and hole trapping within the µs range. Collect data on different device types, device generations and process conditions, as a function of gate field, temperature, etc, for both dc and ac gate bias conditions. Physical interpretation of the data by using theoretical simulations, extraction of the trap distribution (as a function of position in the bandgap and depth in the dielectric), extraction of capture and emission maps. Provide feedback to the process and device teams within the international onsemi community to steer experiments to reduce the Vth bias instability. Benchmarking of the results against published data from academia and competitors.
  • Evaluation of the reliability and the lifetime of our semiconductor devices through statistical-physical models with accelerated high-throughput testing (HTRB, HTGB, TDDB, Qbd) and state-of-the-art electronic characterization. Work with the development and reliability teams in onsemi world-wide and with external R&D partners to make the experimental set-ups, collect and analyse the data.
  • Statistical analysis of large datasets using statistical software (JMP, Python etc) for sound decision making.
  • Contribute to International standards related to Silicon Carbide in order to stay in sync with the market requirements. Over time become an active member of a JEDEC or/and AGQ324 working group(s). Publication of articles to increase visibility of onsemi for Silicon Carbide products.

  • He/she is fluent in English
  • can work in a multi-disciplinary world-wide team, hence open and effective communication is a must.
  • has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, is pro-active and independent.
  • interacts with PhD students, post-docs and professors from R&D partners within Europe, therefore a history of academic research is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Python and JMP is a plus.
