The identification and elimination of inefficiencies (“waste” in lean management speak) is imperative to achieving operational excellence in any industrial environment. TOMRA equipment is a key component of our customers’ production/processing lines, and it delivers a continuous stream of process and equipment data to our IoT platform, TOMRA Insight. We believe that this data can be leveraged to greatly improve the availability, performance, and quality of production processes at our customers organizations.Job DescriptionOur Team in Leuven comprises over 60 engineers and scientists working on next-generational optical food sorting platforms. We help our customers to maintain the highest standards in food quality and safety by achieving excellence in technological innovation.As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible to improve and further develop our already launched products by:
  • Developing new features and functions
  • Researching and/or improving sorting algorithms
  • Tackling end-of-life issues (on software stacks/platforms and hardware components)
  • Squash bugs
  • Increasing software performance (tight timing budgets)
  • Updating and/or creating new Windows OS images

  • You are pragmatical, analytical and have a hands-on mentality
  • You enjoy seeing technology at work and have a broad interest in developing and maintaining software in different languages and software stacks
  • You have an affinity with writing algorithms and tuning your code for best performance
  • You are comfortable communicating with remote stakeholders most of which are spread across internationally
Also RequiredQualifications
  • Relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ relevant experience in above tasks ideally with industrial products of state-of-the-art technologies
  • Strong knowledge and proven track record in the following languages/frameworks
  • C++ (from C++98 to C++20)
  • Python (3.7.x) and pytest
  • Qt
  • PowerShell and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)
  • Knowledge and experience with the following languages/frameworks/protocols is considered a big plus:
  • Typescript/Angular
  • Groovy (DevOps Jenkins)
  • Scada, Modbus, OPC DA/UA
  • You are fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • You are willing to travel internationally as needed
