TECHNICAL WRITER – 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY

Bakker & Partners is looking for a Technical Writer, for our client 3D Systems in Leuven.

Your job:

Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation for 3D metal printers and auxiliary products, both for new developments and for existing products. You will also contribute to the further optimization and automation of the technical writing and related activities!

• You are responsible for drafting and maintaining user facing and service facing technical documentation, i.e. user guide, facility guide, installation guide, service guide, etc.
• As a technical writer you will be involved early in the development process and work closely with the R&D colleagues. You collect the necessary input for the technical documentation and obtain a deep understanding of products and services.
• You process this information into the required documentation. You translate complex info into clear, structured and engaging content, which meets the needs of the target audience. You illustrate procedures with 3D drawings or pictures.
• You are responsible for editing and reviewing the documentation together with subject matter experts.
• You initiating and follow-up review and sign-off of new or updated technical documentation by all relevant departments
• You work together with different departments on the alignment of the technical documentation content
• You publish new and updated technical documentation on relevant platforms
• You coordinate the translations of the user facing documentation into the required languages, by external translation agencies.
• In addition an important focus will go the further optimization of technical writing within 3D Systems. You work on the implementation of single source writing and the related software. You suggest and evaluate optimizations and new methods for efficient technical writing, review, publication and data compilation.
• You report to the R&D Program Manager.

Your profile:

• You have a bachelor or master degree, preferably in a technical field, or equivalent through experience.
• You already have experience in technical writing, preferably in machinery or a related field. However, we are also open to candidates with a different expertise, but with the interest to develop expertise in the field of additive manufacturing and Direct Metal Printing systems and processes.
• You have a good technical understanding. You are able to understand how a complex device is put together. More important than existing knowledge is the eagerness and ability to learn and understand this efficiently.
• You are communicative and proactive. It gives you energy to collect the information from different stakeholders. You are proactive and dare to keep asking questions until you have a good understanding.
• You have excellent analytical and writing skills. You are able to process a multitude of complex information and translate it into structured and simple documentation.
• You have strong organizational and administrative competences. You are able to organize and execute your various documentation projects.
• You are driven by efficiency. You look critically at the existing and actively seek opportunities for improvement. You enjoy engaging yourself for optimization projects.
• You speak and write fluent English, knowledge of Dutch is an advantage but not a must.
