Job purpose:

The Value Evidence Leader – Research will report to the Head of Value Evidence – Research and will play a crucial role in driving the strategy to align the development plans for individual vaccines with what will be required in terms of evidence once they reach the market. In addition to the direct support to the individual vaccines programmes, this position will also contribute to the wider Vaccines strategy and ensure that any evidence generation synergies across projects are fully explored.

The Value Evidence Leader – Research will be embedded in the Vaccines R&D organization and, linking up with all stakeholders, ensure that the R&D organization understands that each vaccine GSK brings to market will need to be supported by high-quality evidence aligned with the needs of those responsible for making important decisions around patient access.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading on the development and refinement of the evidence generation strategy and plans, as well as contributing to the vaccines overall strategy
  • Contribute to the development of critical vaccine development activities, which include the Integrated Evidence Plan (with a focus on the needs of payers, providers, and patients), the Medicine Profile, and the Value Proposition
  • In collaboration with the VEO-matrix and cross functional stakeholders (Clinical, Commercial, Market Access), implement and deliver specific research plans/ studies including the development of early economic models, burden of illness studies, observational research, and patient-reported outcomes instruments
  • Bring expertise to strategic discussions regarding the evidence requirements to support reimbursement and funding submissions globally to inform decision making
  • Lead or collaborate with other functions, such as Market Access and Medical Affairs, on the direct or indirect collection of insights from patients, physicians, providers, and payers
  • Inform clinical trial design to fully capture the economic and humanistic measurements required to deliver a vaccine with differentiated value
  • Inform projects as required through key internal development milestones and communicate the evidence generation plans effectively to secure resources, funding, and organizational alignment.

About You:

This is a leadership position in the matrix organization of Vaccine R&D. The Value Evidence Leader – Research needs to interact with many different partners and project team members, often putting forward a challenging proposition. They will be required to interact with individuals at all levels in the business up and have an ability to influence decision making. As a result, the role requires strong networking and stakeholder management skills.

The role requires an ability to consider multiple viewpoints, assimilate complex information, identify risks and opportunities, and consider the consequences of different trade-offs. They will need both a micro and macro perspective, zooming in on specific studies and projects where required, but always with an understanding of, and appreciation for, the bigger picture – including how our products positively impact our patients. To succeed, the Value Evidence Leader – Research will need to be focused on delivering key objectives, maintaining and monitoring progress of multiple simultaneous projects and balancing the needs of each with strong organizational and multi-tasking skill.The VEO group is a matrixed team with many sub-functions working closely. As such, confidence leading cross-functionally and influencing other leaders is essential. The Value Evidence Leader – Research may present to senior governance bodies so communication skills are important too.

Basic qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Master’s degree qualification or higher in Health Economics or a relevant discipline
  • Significant experience in health economics, outcomes research, market access or an aligned discipline/ function
  • Experience in the Pharmaceutical sector including: 1) Vaccines development experience and 2) Experience of value evidence generation
  • Effective leadership leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment

Preferred qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Global / above country experience
  • Experience in healthcare policy interactions/ discussions
