ELY Process Engineer

John Cockerill has been acting as global OEM in the energy sector for several decades, delivering heat recovery steam generators, industrial boilers and solar receivers for concentrated solar power plant.

In order to support the acceleration of its developments in renewable energy solutions, John Cockerill has grouped all these activities under a specific entity "John Cockerill Renewables", with its specific and dedicated organization. It has four activities : solar & thermal storage, hydrogen, Integrated Renewables Solutions and EPC.

The hydrogen activities are organized under a subsidiary called "John Cockerill Hydrogen". This entity takes advantage of:
  • Its current position as the worldwide leader in the manufacturing of electrolysers with more than 25 years of experience
  • Complete range of integrated solutions for hydrogen production and refueling stations
  • Manufacturing capacities in Asia and Europe
  • Integrated test laboratory for key components of electrolysers
In order to strengthen the development of its worldwide hydrogen activities, John Cockerill is looking for a new ELY Process Engineer.

Main responsibilities

In this respect, as Process Engineer, he will be in charge of
  • Creation of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
Role: check the adequacy of the diagrams established by the design team (contractual specifications, piping sizing, process rules)
  • Drafting of functional documents (defining operating logics)
  • Drafting of maintenance and commissioning manuals
  • Drafting of documentation for commissioning
  • Participation in the training of plant operators as a supplier and therefore boiler specialist
  • Head office support for the commissioning engineer on site. The process engineer keeps in touch with the commissioning engineer and supports him/her from the office for the different problems/issues that the commissioning engineer encounters on site
Profile
  • You have a civil or industrial engineering background
  • You preferably have at least 5 years of experience in the above described tasks, if possible in the energy and/or hydrogen market
  • Knowledge of electrolyzers is a considerable asset! Knowledge of automation is also an asset.
  • You are capable of analysing technical data of complex installations, you are able to detect potential problems and to search for preventive solutions
  • You are able to work in a team and are willing to support your colleagues in their daily tasks (management/support of technicians). You have very good communication skills
  • You are able to work in a matrix organisation, taking responsibility for several projects in parallel.
  • You are a lover of technology, you understand the functioning of an installation, a machinery
  • You are at ease with international contacts and relations but you are not looking for a commercial position!
  • You are able to share your knowledge
  • You are precise and organised
  • You are fluent in French and English, and possibly other foreign languages
  • The position will be based in Seraing (Belgium) but you are available for temporary assignments of varying duration, anywhere abroad
