We are looking to hire a student intern to join our epidemiology team for a period of 6 months, starting November 2021.
The intern will work from home so there is no need to be located in Belgium. This is an unpaid internship.
The IDF epidemiology department coordinates the development of the IDF Diabetes Atlas, an authoritative resource displaying the global impact of diabetes. First published in 2000, it contains data on diabetes prevalence, mortality and expenditure at global, regional and national levels.
Key responsibilities and activities:
- Take an active role in all aspects of a high-impact global epidemiology research project, from administrative to creative tasks
- Update internal documents and databases
- Research on various global topics
- Support in the communication with the IDF network
- Help draft and edit scientific and non-scientific articles, abstracts and presentations
- Support the preparation of online events and training sessions
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project implementation
- Provide further assistance as required to the Epidemiology Department
Collaboration opportunities can be explored with thesis work or other academic assignments
Skills/Competencies/Experience
- You are enrolled in a course of study leading to a formal qualification (graduate or postgraduate in health statistics, epidemiology, public health or relevant field) at a European university or equivalent institution (Applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration provided that they apply to the internship within six months of the completion of their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree).
- You have completed two years of full-time study at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the internship.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
- Proven team-working skills, proactive and flexible.
- Highly computer literate.
- Ability to adopt IDF’s ethics and beliefs
