The Global Purchasing Platform of Aperam regroups all the non-raw material purchasing community of the group and has the prime mission to leverage its >1 BUSD spend across all countries bringing in innovative solutions from the market, leveraging synergies across plants / continents and ultimately actively contribute to cost & innovation leadership of our plants operations.

Mission

As a Category Manager for Industrial services, you decide and develop the purchasing strategy in collaboration with the relevant business partners in order to optimize purchases within your scope in terms of quantity, costs, quality, deadlines while respecting CSR criteria

Your scope covers 6 sites in Belgium and France, the on-site and off-site operations and the maintenance for a spend > 250 m€/y.

You manage a team of Industrial Services Lead Buyers located on other sites.

Responsibilities

You ensure excellent purchasing performance as you:

• Apply and enforce policies and regulations in all areas and in particular in terms of health, safety, security, quality, respect for the environment, energy management, human resources and working conditions
• Design the purchasing category strategy
• Monitor the evolution of the supplier market and new suppliers (economic monitoring, innovation, social, regulatory, etc.)
• Manage risks by transversal analysis, including supplier risk profile, and you understand that as an Aperam employee, you will uphold health & safety and ethical standards at all times, treating your stakeholders accordingly.
• Supervise the activity of its N-1s and provide an advisory and/or technical support role where necessary to improve the performance and development of employees.
• Lead/manage your team in a logic of synergy, sharing of good practices, managerial exemplarity, and in line with the principles of quality of life and working conditions.
• Ensure the execution of the purchasing strategy (procurement process and contract execution) and challenge strategic buyers according to objectives
• Ensure alignment of overall strategy with key stakeholders, including customers and platforms
• Closely collaborate with operational internal stakeholders on sourcing projects to support business plan targets (capacity and EBITDA increase) and/or implement alternatives for risk management
• Participate in make-or-buy opportunity assessments
• Drive TCO improvement initiatives, in close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Negotiate directly with suppliers or in support of strategic buyers, buyers with the aim of achieving the best performance in costs, quality, deadlines and CSR
• Make sure established contracts are executed in compliance with defined buying channels & contractual terms
• Ensure the effective use of purchasing tools/systems applicable to the category and the implementation of the overall purchasing policy
• Propose ways to improve the purchasing process
• Prepare the yearly budget preparation and ensure the follow-up on actuals

Your profile

• You have an engineering or business administration academic background
• Minimum 10 years in strategic purchasing
• You are driven, take ownership and accountability for your area of responsibility, with a high level of autonomy
• You have demonstrated strong management skills to coach and support your team
• You have strong influencing and change management skills, supported by an open mindset and a can-do mentality
• You are aware of the environment with an innovative mindset and eagerness to learn
• You strive on collaboration and co-development with operational internal stakeholders on needs definition & structuration, supplier partnership development & management , both based on an understanding of the operational background and processes
• You have a technical expertise on purchasing processes & negotiation
• You speak Dutch, English & French fluently, which supports your strong communication skills
• You are mobile in your assigned geographical perimeter (France & Belgium).
