We seek personnel to join our team and support key client projects.Who We Are SupportingAllied Command Operations (ACO) is one of The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s (NATO) two strategic military commands. The other command being Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, Virginia.ACO is commanded by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and is responsible for all Alliance military operations. The command headquarters, known as Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, or SHAPE, is located in Casteau near Mons, Belgium. The mission of ACO and the SACEUR is to contribute to preserving the peace, security and territorial integrity of NATO member nations in its area of responsibility.NATO Shape, also known as Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), is the military headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) located in Mons, Belgium. It serves as the strategic command center responsible for planning and coordinating NATO’s military operations, exercises, and missions. SHAPE plays a crucial role in enhancing the alliance’s collective defense, crisis management, and deterrence capabilities, ensuring the readiness and interoperability of member nations’ armed forces, and promoting stability and security across the Euro-Atlantic region.Role BackgroundThis role is to provide comprehensive support to SACEUR’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) exercise programme. The CBRN security environment has dramatically changed and it is a key requirement for enhancing the effectiveness of training in support of planning, conduct and assessment of NATO CBRN operations. CBRN and Weapons of Mass Destruction are close linked at SHAPE, policy environment. Plans and Policy Branch is dealing with CBRN exercises policy issues and offer advice on relevant training requirements to effectively build and maintain required individual and collective skills, competencies and proficiencies in support of NATO CBRN/WMD operations in a dynamic security environment in accordance with NATO policies, doctrine, and procedures.Duties And Responsibilities
  • Proactively identify and provide contributions to initiatives in the development of exercise products derived from NATO policies, directives and guidance with minimal errors, supervision, and within required timelines. To this end, SHAPE CBRN experts will provide all the necessary information and relevant documents to timely acquire sufficient knowledge of NATO policies and directives.
  • Develop synthetic documentation, information and data at military-political, military-strategic and/or military-operational levels with minimal errors, supervision, and within required timelines.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in the SACEUR CBRN exercise programme and suggest/implement corrective actions, as appropriate.
  • Develop and present evidence-based documentation and products to senior-level decision-makers in a professional manner with minimal errors and within required timelines.
  • Effectively organize and utilize a number of different techniques (e.g. storyboarding, table top exercises and workshops) to socially elaborate plans and products within required timelines and generally errorfree.
  • Prepare relevant and accurate products and documentation for exercises, seminars, workshops and conferences, and interface effectively with decision-makers.
  • Proactively and substantially contribute to complex exercises in multi-faceted environments.
  • Engage successfully with military staff (OF-4 and below) and at EXO level and among multinational participants.

  • Two years of working experience related to the CBRN Education, Training, Exercises and Evaluations (ETEE) at the Operational and/or Strategic level.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English as defined in STANAG 6001 (Standardized Linguistic Profile (SLP).
    • Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) or equivalent of a 3333.
Desirable Skills And Experience
  • Working experience related to the CBRN NATO Education, Training, Exercises and Evaluations (ETEE) at the Operational and/or Strategic level in a NATO Command Structure headquarters.
  • Experience within the last ten years in the NATO exercises series (CBRN)
  • Experience within the last ten years in the NATO CBRN Functional Service or similar software.
  • Experience within the last ten years in the NATO Warning and Reporting System.
  • Familiarity with the applicable NATO CBRN policy, CBRN publications, processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the applicable NATO CBRN intelligence collection and/or analysis.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of NATO or national joint operations and exercises.
  • Recent, multi-year experience working in positions requiring specific inputs to the exercise lessons identified / lessons learned and exercise report development processes.

  • Monday to Friday 0830-1730 (core hours)
  • Some overtime
  • Some weekend work
Travel
  • Possible required to other NATO Sites
Contract Duration
  • September – December 2024
Security Clearance
  • Valid National or NATO Secret Clearance
