Job Title: Data Engineer

Location: Brussels

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines and architectures. Your primary responsibilities will include analyzing data, identifying issues, developing ETL/ELT processes, and ensuring data integrity. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze data to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and issues, and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and architectures for processing structured and unstructured data.
  • Utilize RDBMSs and NoSQL databases to store and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Proficient in Scala and Spark, with a solid understanding of the Hadoop ecosystem, including Parquet and ORC file formats.
  • Write performant Scala code and SQL statements, and design modular, future-proof solutions.
  • Work autonomously on Unix-based systems, demonstrating agility and adaptability to tackle tasks outside your primary strengths.
  • Collaborate with customers to understand and clarify requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong curiosity about FINTECH and related technologies, staying updated on industry trends and advancements.
  • Possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with open-source technologies such as Spark, Hive, HBase, Kafka, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cloudera, IBM mainframe, or similar platforms.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • A growth mindset, with a passion for continuous learning and development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven experience with data analysis, ETL/ELT development, and data architecture.
  • Strong proficiency in Scala, Spark, SQL, and Unix-based systems.
  • Experience working in an agile environment is preferred.
